About
The Pillars:
A Monument Honoring Our Local Carbon and Powdered Metal Industries

“Following 2023’s success of The Smile Coin Project—for which we designed, created, and then distributed 4,000 powdered metal Smile Coins to over 1,800 students and all staff members in the St. Marys Area School District as an unprecedented STEAM x Mental Health Awareness x Community Service initiative—we wanted to harness the enormous goodwill and public support from that endeavor to do something else really big for our local communities.
When the idea and opportunity to conceptualize and design The Pillars: A Monument Honoring Our Local Carbon and Powdered Metal Industries arose, we embraced the mission with humility and enthusiasm, and once more immediately got to work. Pooling our collective skills—across science, technology, engineering, arts, math, and community service—our goal from the start has been to create something groundbreaking in our area that both honors the men and women of our iconic manufacturing industries and connects past, present, and future.
We look forward to continuing our work through this unique process with hopes of bringing The Pillars to life during 2024-2025, while paying meticulous attention to every step and detail. The enormity of this honor is not lost on us as we build a space of history, learning, and inspiration that will be a point of pride for every member of our local communities and a stunning, selfie-worthy destination for visitors to our area.”
