About The KRS Workbook for Adults
The Kindness Rocks & Smiles Community Project™ is a multimedia, community-based art project that along with this workbook—which can be used independently or as a companion guide—is a space where everyone is welcome and appreciated, as both extraordinary individuals of all ages and as members of a community coming together. And in the challenging glare of the Covid-19 Pandemic, this mission of unity and reconnecting as a community—local, national, and global—is especially needed more than ever before.
The nine chapters in The Kindness Rocks & Smiles Community Project™ Workbook for Adults focus on the language of kindness; the meaning of community; the empowering force of everyday words and gestures; diversity, equity, and inclusion; mental health and well-being; kindness across generations; the creativity of kindness; how YOU are the “I” when it comes to kindness, smiles, and community; and the many intersections between our lives and kindness. Each chapter invites hands-on self-reflection and expression, conversations, and learning about some of the most crucial issues of our time. Within these pages, you will have the opportunity to share and celebrate what makes you and others unique, while better understanding how you especially belong and can contribute to the various communities around you.
The content within these chapters can easily be explored by you on your own, or adapted for larger gatherings, such as students, colleagues, and any other community groups, including within the context of the Covid-19 Pandemic’s impact on your community. It can also be used in preparation for participating in The Kindness Rocks & Smiles Community Project™ installation and/or as an opportunity to further embrace the deeper meanings and lessons of the project during or following the installation. You can also mix and match the content in this workbook, tailoring the questions and activities to the specific subjects or issues you want to address on your own or that are most pertinent to your class, group, or community.
The Kindness Rocks & Smiles Community Project™ Workbook for Adults is meant to guide and carry you wherever you need to go in any given moment—use it at home, work, school, or anywhere else you wish, and take it with you as a friendly companion on your journey forward. Let these pages be a space for inspiration, reflection, expression, fun, learning, and coming together, as well as a reminder that the world is a better, kinder place because you are in it!
