My One-On-One with NY Art Examiner About FYIH & Power of Art

“What is the meaning of life? We’ve all asked ourselves this question at least once in our lives, and we’ve all pondered a great many thoughts, perhaps without ever really getting any real answers. . . .

Five Years in Heaven is a sweet memoir about Schlimm’s friendship with a nun at his local convent. Sister Augustine, also known as Gussie, ran the ceramics shop at St. Joseph Monastery in the little town of St. Mary’s in rural western Pennsylvania. The book tells about the last five years of Sister Augustine’s life, where she and Schlimm bonded and taught one another about art and life. . . .

If you’re looking for something to give you hope and faith, this is the book for you.”

  1. Hi Mr. Schlimm,

Thank you and Sister Augustine for the list of 12 excellent suggestions on how to live a life of peace. I exchanged letters with Sister Augustine for several years before her death at the same time when you were her friend. I am wondering if she ever mentioned to you about her life in Wisconsin at St. Nicholas Parish near Random Lake. She and Sisters Angela and Bonaventure were together sacristans and housekeepers for our pastor Father Francis McGarry. If you are ever in the Milwaukee area; I would very much like to meet with you and perhaps introduce you to the people of our parish.

    Thank you,

    Leon Jacoby
